Pacific Beach 4th of July 5K
4th of July 5K Cancelled but Hope for Future Races!
Our mission at San Diego Running Co. is this: bring the community together through unique, memorable events that tell a story and empower people to get out and enjoy new experiences.
In coordinating with the local community, we were excited to deliver on that mission through a 5K on the 4th of July! However, in the rapid coordination with the City of San Diego, we ‘ran’ out the start line too fast and we weren’t able to get this event to happen within their permitting guidelines.
What does that mean? Unfortunately, the 5K is cancelled. The amazing runners that already registered will receive a FULL REFUND (registration fees and ticketing fees), plus a little thank you in the mail.
With that said, the City is well aware how much YOU, the runners of San Diego, want to get out for a race again in a safe and responsible manner. We’ve sent them a plan and proposal on how we think we can achieve that, just like we had planned for the 4th of July.
We’ll keep everyone posted when we have updates on future in person San Diego Running Co. events. Thank you so much for your continued support. Keep up those miles and happy running!

HOW WE WANT TO RUN A MODIFIED RACE
How did we make it feel like a real 5K, versus the virtual runs going on? Here's how it'll work:
When registering you can select 'virtual' OR a time slot to join us on the Pacific Beach boardwalk and get a chip-timed result. The time slots are setup to ensure social distancing.
You can receive your participant goods in advance at our packet pick-up or at check-in at the start line location.
If you join us you will start in the time window you designated during registration. Within that time window, we will stagger when participants start running to ensure social distancing. You will only be allowed to start at the exact same time as someone else in your 'household.' We will sell out time slots so if your friends/family are joining your time slot, be sure to register together!
Participants will run an out-and-back 5K along the boardwalk.
To ensure social distancing, we will have very limited registration.
ADDITIONAL RULES & REGULATIONS
You may not arrive on site until 20 minutes prior to your pre-selected wave start.
All participants must bring a mask to use during check-in.
Each wave is limited to a max size of 50 individuals.
Gear check will not be available. You will be responsible for your own personal items.
There WILL NOT be a water station during your run/walk. If you would like water during the run/walk you will need to bring your own water bottle. We will provide a water bottle at the finish line.
If you have any questions regarding the 4th of July 5K or are interested in becoming a sponsor, please let us know!
Fill out the form and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!
