The Carlsbad-based Move Your Feet Before You Eat®! Foundation was created to promote health and well being through incorporating regular physical fitness into daily life. The foundation provides free Move Your Feet Before You Eat! Refrigerator magnets, Mileage Club materials, incentive certificates for program leaders and participants, and motivational videos and speakers to schools throughout North County. The Foundation donates to schools and non-profits that encourage physical activity. It is for all ages, but its sharpest focus is on encouraging physical activity among young people, who face an epidemic of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes that are an increasing threat, in part, because today’s children aren’t getting enough physical activity. Since 2007, the Foundation has donated more than $500,000 to local schools and non-profits in North County.

Move Your Feet Before You Eat!® Foundation
The Move Your Feet Before You Eat!® Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2007. Our mission is to promote health and well-being through incorporating regular physical fitness into daily life, utilizing education, special events, and instructive coaching. Furthermore, funds go towards programs that promote a healthy lifestyle. In addition to the above, our goals for the past 5 years have been to inspire and support running programs at all schools. The foundation provides instruction on how to organize and manage a mileage club or running program at the school. For this reason, the foundation will provide mileage club materials, gift certificates to purchase additional incentive gifts, and motivational speakers. Visit our website, moveyourfeetfoundation.org, for information on our Dream Big: Get Up and Go video, which profiles successful community leaders who have used running to reach their personal and professional potential. Let us know if you would like to get involved and help our kids get healthier as a local running club leader. Let’s start a trend of appreciation by being a part of 5k charities, San Diego charity, OUSD charities, & Oceanside charities.
Please note, if you used a discount code, your $5 donation will not be designated to a charity.

O’side Turkey Trot • FAQ
Got a question? We have an answer! Check out our most common questions below!
What’s the difference between the Early Wave 5K at 6:45 AM or Main Wave 5K at 8:05 AM?
- Only difference is the start time! Join the 5K that’s most convenient for you!
Are there age group awards for both 5Ks?
- Yes! They will each have their own age group awards.
Is there still a 5 Mile Option?
- There are now two 5K options instead of the 5 Mile and the 5K. The 5 Mile route had a challenging road closure that created a number of safety concerns for our runners and the new residential communities along the route. But we are excited to start a new tradition with the two 5K options!
What’s included in my registration?
- All paid participants will receive an entry to the distance of their choice, a finisher shirt, a medal, bib number with timing, virtual coupons, and the opportunity to post your finisher time and personal photos of your trot.
Can I run with a dog?
- NO, we ask that you leave your four-legged friends at home during the Trot!
Can I walk?
- Absolutely! We will ask the walkers to start toward the back of each 5K. For the Early Wave 5K, we anticipate walkers starting at 7:00 AM. For the Main Wave 5K, we anticipate walkers starting at 8:30 AM.
Can I run with a stroller?
- Yes but we ask that you start in the final 2 waves as the road and pathways become narrow to the end of the run. We thank you in advance for your cooperation!
Will there be a Team Competition?
- Yes! We will give $100 gift certificates to the top 5 largest teams over 20 members.
Do you offer any discounts?
- We currently offer our multi-registration discount for groups of 3 or more. Because 10% of your entry goes towards one of our 96 charities, we don’t offer any other discounts. As a reminder, your entry fee includes a t-shirt, medal and timing!
- Are you active military? Use code MILITARY10 for 10% off!
How do I get my shirt and medal?
- Beat the race day rush and pick up your materials in advance of the race! All registered participants will receive a bib, t-shirt, and goodie bag. If you can’t make it to any of the Expo days, don’t fret; you’re welcome to send a friend or family member to Expo to pick up your race day necessities – as long as they come armed with a copy of everyone’s ID and waiver. Dates & Times:
Can my friend or family member pick up my bib?
- Yes, they just need to bring a picture of your ID (on phone is OK).
Do you offer any refunds? Can I transfer or defer?
- Unfortunately, your registration fees are non-refundable.
