Current forecasts are showing warmer-than-usual temperatures for race weekend. We’re closely monitoring conditions and will continue to evaluate the forecast as race day approaches.

In the meantime, we encourage participants to plan ahead for warmer weather and begin prioritizing hydration, including both water and electrolytes, in the days leading up to your race.

Early Packet Pick-Up

Early packet pick-up is MANDATORY for all half marathoners. You ONLY can skip if you paid for your packet (tank top, bib) to be mailed in advance OR you purchase event day pick-up for $25. For 5K runners, early pick-up is optional but highly encouraged.

Parking, Shuttles and Transportation

Here is a quick reference for your parking and shuttle information. For a more detailed view of transportation, parking and shuttle, go HERE.

HALF MARATHON SHUTTLE

You can park at the finish line and take a shuttle to the start! The shuttle pick-up location and details are:

• Shuttle pick-up location: 801 Grand Ave., San Diego, CA 92109
• Pick-up times: 4:45a – 5:50a. Last shuttle will depart at 5:50a!
• Parking: Parking options in Pacific Beach will consist of paid parking lots and neighborhood parking. Click HERE for recommended parking lots.

HALF MARATHON RIDE SHARE/DROP-OFF

Ride share/drop-off is available at the start line at Crown Point Shores.  We recommend dropping runners at the corner of Lamont St and Crown Point Dr. This location will be the most convenient for drop-off and start line access.

Crown Point Dr. eastbound traffic lane (running between Ingraham Dr. and Lamont St.) will be closed starting at 6:00am on race morning. Please plan accordingly if you are driving north on Ingraham St.

HALF MARATHON START LINE PARKING 

Parking is available at the start line at: Crown Point Shores, San Diego, CA 92109. Additional overflow parking is available at Ski Beach Park located at 1600 Vacation Rd, San Diego, CA 92109. This will be a 1 mile walk to the start line. Click HERE for a map of the parking areas.

Note: There is NO shuttle from the finish line to the start line after the event. So you will need to find your own transportation (e.g. ride share) back to your car (about 2 miles to the start line).

5K & 1K KIDS RUN PARKING/HALF FINISH LINE PARKING

The 5K will start and finish at the same location. The 5K will be on the beach at approximately 700 Thomas Ave, San Diego, CA 92109. For 5K parking, find neighborhood parking or refer to THIS MAP for paid lots. Parking WILL be challenging before the 5K so allow 15-30 minutes to park and walk to the event.

Gear Check

Gear Check will be available at both the Half Marathon and 5K start lines. Half Marathon gear check bags will be transported from the start line to the finish area and will be available for pickup after your race.

Please bring your gear ready in a sealable bag to check, and do not pack valuable items. San Diego Running Co. is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Bags may be claimed after your race from the Gear Check tent at the finish line until 11:00 AM. Items left at the start line, on the course, or not claimed on race day will be donated.

If you must discard any clothing during the event, we ask that you only do so at water stations. These items will also be donated.

Course Limits

Half Marathon: The course limit is 3 hours and 15 minutes. You must maintain 3 hour and 15 minute finishing pace or 15 minute per mile pace. If you are off this pace you will be moved up along the course and you will still be able to cross the finish line and receive your finisher medal.

5K: All 5K participants must be able to complete the course in one (1) hour. You must maintain a 20 minute-per-mile pace or faster.

The starting line for both race distances will close shortly after the last runner crosses the start line, so please be in position before the race starts!

Course Support and Fuel

Fully staffed and equipped water stations will have water and a nearby restroom, along with e-Gel energy gel and Vitalyte electrolyte product at select water stations. The 5K course water station will be positioned at the halfway point. Half Marathon course aid stations will be located:

Pace Groups

Pacific Beach Half Marathon is excited to partner with OnPace Race to provide you with lots of pacing options to help you achieve your half marathon goal!

Each of the following finishing times will have two OnPace Race Pacers: 1:25, 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:05, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20, 2:25, 2:30, 2:40, 2:45, 2:50, 2:55 and 3:00. Look for your pace group leader holding a sign with the target pace at the start line. 

The OnPace team will also be available to answer questions and help you find your pacer at:

• Friday’s Packet Pick-Up (October 2nd, 11am-6pm)

• The Start Line on Race Morning

Medical Support

If you experience a medical problem on course, go to the nearest aid station where a medical representative will be called to assist you. If you are unable to finish the race, shuttle transportation to the finish can also be called from every aid station. Additionally, a SAG vehicle will be picking up participants who need transport to the finish. Additional medical staff equipped with first aid and comfort supplies will be located at the final aid stations to provide support as well.

Post Race Recovery & Festivities

The finish line is just the beginning. Stick around after your race to recover, recharge, and celebrate your finish with us in Pacific Beach.

Recovery Zone

Put those post-race legs in good hands! Stop by the PB Half Recovery Zone after you finish for complimentary recovery services from our partners.

LSKD Recovery Lounge
Kick back and recover with LSKD. They’ll be onsite with Normatec compression boots and Theraguns, plus a laid-back recovery lounge where you can give your legs a little post-race TLC.

PT Effect
Need a little extra attention after your miles? The team from PT Effect will be offering assisted stretching, massage, and injury assessments to help you start your recovery on the right foot.

Recovery services are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Your results will be available instantly as soon as you cross the finish line.

For the Half Marathon, live split updates will post at the following checkpoints: 1 mile, 5K, 5 mile, 10K, and 10 mile. Friends and family can track your progress in real-time by searching your name or bib number—so they can cheer you on every step of the way!

Free Race Photos

Race photos will be taken along the course and at the finish provided by 3PIXstudios! You will receive an e-mail with a link to these photos within 3-4 days after the event. These complimentary photos will be free for you to download and share! #pacificbeachhalf #pacificbeach5K.

Aid Station Information

Your 2026 Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K course is fully stocked with top-tier support to keep you moving strong all the way to the finish line.

💧 Hydration: Every half marathon aid station will include water, and all locations beginning at mile 4 (aid station #2) will feature Vitalyte, a natural electrolyte drink designed to replenish key nutrients, prevent dehydration, and keep you performing your best.

⚡ Fuel: This year’s official on-course energy gel is e-Gel — each packet delivers 150 calories, 37g of carbs (including 30g of complex carbs for steady energy), plus 4x the electrolytes of standard gels to help fight cramps, support endurance, and boost recovery.

The Start line is located in the center parking lot. 

Important Notes:

• Access to parking lots will close at 6:00am to secure the route for the race. You MUST be parked by that time to utilize Crown Point Park parking lots.
• There is NO shuttle after the finish of the race to the start line. So you will need to get yourself back to your car (about 2 miles away).

How will I know if I’m qualified for the Legacy medal?

• We will email all eligible participants in advance of the race!

Can I qualify for Legacy status by running the 5K?

• No, you will need to run the Half Marathon for 2 or more consecutive years.

If I cannot join in person one year, can I maintain my Legacy status by running virtually?

• Yes! Email us at info@sandiegorunningco.com and we will provide instructions for joining us virtually.

How will I receive my Legacy gift(s)?

• We will have a pick-up station for your Legacy medal in the post-race expo/festival.

What is the Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K?

The PB Half & 5K is a fun and high-energy running event in San Diego, featuring a scenic coastal course through the heart of Pacific Beach. This two-day race weekend brings the vibes with a 5K and half marathon, plus the Surfside Double Shot Challenge for runners ready to take on both. From ocean views to post-race celebrations, it’s the ultimate San Diego race weekend.

Who is the Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K for? Is it beginner-friendly?

This race is designed for runners of all levels, from first-timers to seasoned athletes. Whether you’re running your first race or chasing a PR, this fun and high-energy San Diego running event has something for everyone. The 5K is perfect for beginners, while the half marathon is a great option for both experienced runners and those newer to long-distance racing, thanks to its flat, fast course, strong on-course support, and high-energy race day atmosphere.

What is the location of the start line?

• Half Marathon – Crown Point Park, Mission Bay
• 5K/Kids Run – On the beach! (700 Thomas Avenue)

What is included in my registration?

• Registration includes: race entry, tank top, chip-timed results, custom finishers medal and one complimentary drink ticket. Half marathoners also receive a custom pair of SDRC sunnies!

Is there event day registration?

• If the event does not sell out, registration will be available on event morning for $74.99 for the 5K and $39.99 for the Kids 1K Run. No registration is available on event day for the half marathon.

Where do I pick up my race packet?

Can I transfer my registration to another person or defer to a future San Diego Running Co. event?

• Transfers – Participant to Participant: Transfers are available on each event’s registration site. Simply select the “Transfer” button located on the right side of the event’s Race Roster registration page and follow the prompts. A $15 transfer fee applies. The transfer window expires 72 HOURS prior to the event date.
• Transfers – Changing Sub-Events: Sub-event transfers are available on each event’s registration site. Simply select the “Transfer” button located on the right side of the home page and follow the prompts. Refunds will not be applied for difference in sub-event pricing. The transfer window expires 72 HOURS prior to the event date.
• Transfer to Virtual: Participants that cannot attend the event but wish to participate virtually may transfer to virtual up to event day. Simply email our team at info@sandiegorunningco.com and we will mail your goods to your house! Additional mailing fees will apply.
• Deferrals: Participants are extended a one-time deferral option to either the following year’s event or another SDRC equivalent event. Deferral requests must be made ONE WEEK prior to the event date. A $15 deferral fee applies. Email us at info@sandiegorunningco.com with your deferral request.
• Deadline: All transfer and deferral requests must be received by the deadlines listed above, no exceptions.

Can I have my packet mailed to me?

• YES, for a $17.50 fee (plus service fees) we will mail all your participant goods right to your house! The deadline to purchase Mail My Packet is September 16, 2026. Click HERE to purchase.

Is the 5K run in the sand?

• YES, the 5K run consists of approximately 1.75 miles of running in the sand and 1.35 miles of running along the boardwalk.
• The Half Marathon race takes place entirely on closed streets and sidewalks along the beach and bay. The finish line for the half marathon is now on solid ground (on Thomas Avenue as it meets the Pacific Beach Boardwalk)- aka no more sand!

Is there a cut-off time for the Half Marathon?

• YES, you must maintain 3 hour and 15 minute finishing pace or 15 minute per mile pace. If you are off this pace you will be moved up along the course and you will still be able to cross the finish line and receive your finisher medal.

Will there be pace teams for the Half Marathon?

• YES! We’ve partnered with OnPace to provide pace teams for 16 different finish times from 1:25 through 3:00 (with at least two pacers per time). You can connect with the OnPace team at Friday’s packet pick-up or at the start line on race morning if you have questions or want to meet your pacer, or you can just jump in with your goal pace at the start line Sunday morning.

Can I walk the 5K?

• YES, we gladly welcome and encourage walkers. Although there is no defined course cut-off time, we asked that all 5K participants maintain a 20 minute per mile pace to allow us to remain on schedule for later race waves.

Where should I park for the event?

• All parking will be street parking in Pacific Beach.

Can I run with my dog?

• NO, per San Diego City regulations, dogs will not be allowed on the beach at the time of the run, unfortunately your four legged running buddy will have to sit this one out.

Can I run with a stroller?

• For the 5K, there are multiple soft sand crossings on the course and one small stair crossing so we HIGHLY RECOMMEND you do NOT run with a stroller. The Half Marathon is stroller friendly.

How do I volunteer?

• If you would like to join the festivities as a volunteer, we would love to have you! Email us at volunteers@sandiegorunningco.com and let us know you would like to volunteer. It takes a lot of support to make this event happen and it wouldn’t be possible without our amazing volunteers!
